It’s an uncertain time we’re currently living in, and while we can’t make anything better, we can share some positivity. It’s the little things in life that can bring a smile to your face, especially when the world around us is changing daily and can be a little overwhelming. And, who knows, you might even get something done you’ve been putting off for a while; yes we mean that DIY you’ve been meaning to do…
Remember the days when we would dread these home ‘projects’. We are embracing our inner ‘odd job man’, going round our homes and writing a list of everything that we can be painting, polishing, fixing and sorting. We can’t necessarily change what’s going on outside the comfort of our own home, but we can create a wonderful little sanctuary indoors with a bit of a Spring freshen up.
The days are getting longer and lighter and the temperature a little bit milder. Meaning it’s the perfect time to get the garden tools out and give the place a bit of a tidy up and brush away the winter debris. If you don’t have a garden, why not take the time to tend to your house plants, they’ll thank you for it.
Some good old-fashioned fun. It’s amazing how the hours can disappear with the help of a good board game. A brilliant way to bring the family closer together, and you know that saying, “back in my day…”, well now’s the time to relive it.
4. Digital detox
With information changing so quickly and coming so fast, take a deep breath, switch your phone off for an hour and just have some peace, quiet and calm. Why not pick up that book you’ve been meaning to read or pop some music on. Then when you’re ready, you can switch everything back on knowing you’ve taken some time to look after your mind and soul.
5. Perfect your cocktail making skills
While you might not be able to have a lively audience in your front room to appreciate your cocktails; you could set up a virtual hang out with your friends who are also home and indoors for the foreseeable. Virtual parties are going to be the way forward. The perfect excuse to pick something delicious and fun to make – have a look at our cocktails for inspiration here.
Lastly, and this should always be a given, but if it’s been a while, why not think how you can ‘pay it forward’. Do something nice for someone else; random acts of kindness will always put a smile on everyone’s faces. Or why not send that text you keep meaning to send, even better, why not pick up the phone and say hello, after all, we’re all in this together.
