Our favourite day of the year is rolling around very soon! Rejoice, get your freezer stocked with ice and your cocktail shakers ready because Saturday 3rd of August is International Scottish Gin Day.

The themed day is a celebration of all things gin (as you might imagine) – tasting gin, pairing gin, learning more about gin and of course enjoying gin. The event was established by The Gin Cooperative and the day brings together Scotland’s Scottish Gin makers and brands.

A special day if you’re a gin lover but equally, a great reason to do something different, get a group of friends together or simply kick back in the sunshine with a Caorunn & Tonic. Whatever you’re in the mood for this International Scottish Gin Day, we’ve got a selection of ideas to ensure that you mark the day in a fun, enjoyable and memorable way.

Five things to do on International Scottish Gin Day

Come visit us!

Take a trip to Balmenach Distillery, the home of Caorunn in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park where you’ll get an intimate, behind-the-scenes tour and an insight into our artisanal production process. After your guided tour you’ll have the unique opportunity to enjoy a tutored de-constructed nosing and tasting session featuring Caorunn’s five locally foraged and six traditional botanicals, a neat sample of Caorunn and our newly launched Caorunn Scottish Raspberry.

Host a gin party

Our favourite thing to do! Why? Because you can get all your friends in one place and create a fabulous focal point with… a gin bar! One of the easiest styles of party to host because the pressure is off you to be the host with a tray of drinks; it’s all about your guests creating their favourite cocktails with a whole range of ingredients.

So much fun is in that whole mixing and trying out new flavours and ingredients experience. It doesn’t have to be ‘break the bank’ expensive either (we know that buying all these bits and bobs for cocktails can be quite a shopping trip) so instead of your guests bringing a bottle, perhaps suggest they bring different types of mixers, syrups, garnishes, herbs and fruit to make your gin bar swing and you do the Caorunn!

Three must pours for our gin bar are…

Don’t Thistle my Pink

The perfect contrast of Caorunn and Scotch whisky. Perfect for celebrating Scottish spirit!

Aviation

A decadent mix of Caorunn, Maraschino Liqueur, Lemon juice and Crème de Violette.

 Caorunn Twist Negroni

A Caorunn twist on this classic aperitif!

Go out for a cocktail

There’s going out for a drink and there’s going out for a cocktail! Getting a bit more dressed up and looking forward to a glam night out trying a range of timeless classic and some new cocktails. Is there any better excuse than International Scottish Gin Day?

Stay simple

Or…you could stay home, chill in the garden or sit back in peace and quiet and enjoy one of life’s simple pleasures – a Caorunn and Tonic. Try our Perfect Serve C & T or go for our Mediterranean serve.

Whatever you’re doing this International Scottish Gin Day, may your day be sunny and warm and your drinks refreshing and cool!
